Belgrade Day 1

We have arrived in Belgrade.  My jet lag is out of whack so I am updating this while my Mom sleeps and the internet is feeling generous.  Everyone here has been very nice - we made a few friends on the airplane and my Serbian abilities have been put to the test.   Mom's first impression after getting out of the taxi - "It reminds me of Buffalo."  I'm not sure what that means exactly, but maybe she'll feel differently in the day time and after having walked around the city more.  Last night we took a quick walk around the center of the city through Trg Republike (Republic Square) and Knez Mihailova Street.  We stopped for a quick drink at Hotel Moskva before calling it a night.

More pictures to follow as we actually have time to explore!

Testing...

This post is in anticipation of my upcoming trip to Serbia and Kosovo.  I will be accompanied by my mother.  The "follies" in the title refers to the general shenanigans that occur when the two of us are together.  I will be documenting our travels and inevitable cultural mishaps here.  Enjoy!
